Food Tech Meetups

The Spoon Food Tech Meetups

The Spoon launched a Food Tech Meetup series! We’re hoping these recurring free (thanks to our sponsor ChefSteps!) events will provide a space for people to learn about and discuss innovations in the future of cooking, agriculture, the kitchen, and more. We’re working to foster a food tech community, and we’d love to have you join us.

PAST EVENTS

January: Future of Beer

January 29 6:30 – 8:30

Beer is one of the most ancient beverages in existence — but what will it look like in the future? We invited experts from PicoBrew (maker of a smart countertop brewing/distilling appliance), Tarukino (Cannabis edibles company with a marijuana-infused beer), SIP Northwest (publication exploring all things boozy in the PNW), and Pike Brewing Company (a historic Seattle brewery) to speak about the biggest beer trends coming down the pipeline.

November: FoodTech Meetup In Los Angeles

November 27 6:30-8:30

This November Spoon is taking their food tech meetups on the road to sunny Los Angeles! We’re teaming up with MiLA to create a half-day event highlighting innovative makers, startups, and investors that are leveraging technology to shape our relationship with food.

August: The Future of Restaurants

August 28th 6:30-8:30

What will the restaurant of the future look like? Is it run by robot who cook and serve your meals? Will there be menus with augmented reality? Or will there be a chasm, with only fast-casual restaurants embrace tech, while higher-end establishments stick with homemade ingredients and the white glove experience? Those are exactly the questions we’ll be exploring in our next food tech meetup all about The Future of the Restaurant.

July: Blue Tech Meetup & Town Hall in Providence, RI

The Spoon’s FoodTech meetups are hitting the road in July as we head to Providence, RI for a meetup and town hall on blue tech and sustainable seafood! In this event we will explore how innovation and technology can allow us to improve sustainability to meet the globe’s rising demand for seafood and other ocean-based protein through innovative systems, local support, and bluetech.

July 17, 2-6 pm

June: Food Waste Solutions

At this meetup we want to go beyond just discussing the worrisome statistics; we’ll talk with panelists who are helping design smart systems to mitigate food waste throughout the supply chain and explore how emerging tech can improve household, restaurant and workplace food efficiency.

June 27, 6 – 8pm

May: The Future of Meat

This meetup will explore the future of meat with speakers from Seattle Food Tech, Crowd Cow, and The Good Food Institute.

May 24, 6 – 8pm

April: The Future of Recipes

Read about some highlights from this event, featuring speakers from ChefSteps, Allrecipes, and Fexy Media, here.

April 25th, 6-8 pm
