Job Overview
We are looking for a passionate software engineer to help shape and deliver the next evolution of the connected kitchen. As part of a small and accomplished team of experts, you will work on building out digital controls and a greenfield platform for kitchen devices while also building best-in-class user experiences. You play nicely with designers and care about implementing pixel-perfect, intuitive interfaces. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, contributing to innovative solutions while demonstrating maturity and collaborative ability, technical competence, and attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications
· Minimum five years of experience writing consumer-facing production code
· Demonstrated track record of building sophisticated, highly interactive mobile applications or front-end web applications in modern frameworks
· Experience writing elegant, reusable, well-tested code, and the ability to strike the right balance between quality and rapid shipping/iteration
· Ability to design and implement features in a collaborative, agile team environment
· A knack for communicating effectively across a range of science, engineering, and arts backgrounds. (At Breville, we work with mathematicians, mechanical/electrical engineers, firmware engineers, writers, videographers, and chefs.)
· Ability to quickly assimilate whatever technologies are needed for a project
· Track record of eliminating obstacles and delivering a product that is better than originally envisioned
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience building consumer-facing applications or building consumer-facing production services
Experience building production applications with TypeScript or JavaScript in modern frameworks such as AngularJS, React, React Native, Vue.js
Experience building applications for mobile phones, tablets, or embedded devices
Experience working with connected Internet of Things (IoT) devices
Experience with communication protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Wi-Fi
Experience with NodeJS and package management
